Phenomenon After the Pandemic

The Lure of the Mighty Peso

After the pandemic, where we saw businesses toppling down one after the other, people were hard pressed to earn big money. It was a difficult period whose  after effects are felt even today. Hence, it was not unusual that members of this household came groping for whatever the newly opened job markets have to offer. The daughter saw the opportunity for web development, our store assistant tried Tesda's free online call center training, and I looked into opportunities of expanding my market into other areas, and dabble into online work, as well.

It is a funny scenario in this house where everyone is pounding away in his/her own work station - laptop, cellphone, pen, and paper on hand! Looks like the real thing, says the daughter! I wonder how everyone eats, as there were not much movement around. Nary a sound or a whimper. Each one is busy in his/her own little world. Is this the lure for money? I think so, but also the need to find our individual niche somewhere - wherever that may be.

Losing Friends Along the Way

The pandemic may have been extremely hard for some people that I saw a number of friends succumbing to sickness along the way. Some were fortunate to survived it, and some were not as lucky. There were some who were not even ill, but just dropped dead! They probably didn't know what hit them, and there they were oft to another plane!

But mind you, I had a drastic accident the early part of the year, too. I slipped, rattled my heart to a mild stroke, and partly burst my lungs! I screamed and shouted, thinking that the emergency unit of the hospital was hell, with all the demons wearing green! I can now only remember that episode of my life with great amusement! But it was not amusing, then! It was scary as shit!

Learning Curve

What did I learn after all this brouhaha? That when push comes to shove, only your true friends remain. Not exactly your blood relatives or your so-called true friends, but these can be mere acquaintances or far-off friends or relations. Or people that you don't even think about - and suddenly, there they were to help. An angel in disguise? Well, maybe! Who knows?
